Halloween Pumpkins!
Halloween is a very special time for children in schools as they look forward every year to the traditions of showing off their costumes and enjoying treats with their friends. Although it will again look different this year, we have been working on a plan which will allow us to offer the children as much of the traditional experience as possible.
Similar to last year, families will not be able to send in treats this year, rather the treats will be purchased by staff and distributed to the children. Please note that we are asking for a Cash Online donation from parents to support this initiative. The instructions for donations are attached to this email as well and the Halloween Plan includes a handy link to the application. Your Cash Online donation is in lieu of individual families purchasing and donating treats.

Please give the school a call should you have any questions or concerns.
With your help, we can make Halloween a special day for the children again this year!
Thank you in advance for your support.

Costumes:
Students are permitted to wear a costume on Friday October 29, 2021, however, students who choose to wear a costume must arrive at school in their costume and wear the costume throughout the day. Due to covid cleaning restrictions and physical distancing guidelines, students will not have access to washrooms to change into or out of their costumes. Adults in the school will not be able to assist students with changing into or out of costumes.
Students must continue to wear their usual Covid masks throughout the day (including underneath any costume mask).

Costume masks will only be worn during the parade, not during instructional time or recess breaks.
Students are not permitted to bring any props that go with their costume.

Pumpkin Carving:
We will not be able to do class pumpkin carving this year. Instead, we are arranging individual small pumpkins for each student to decorate using paint, stickers etc. The children will take home these pumpkins at the end of the day.

Halloween Parade:
If the weather cooperates, we will be doing our physically- distanced , Halloween parade outside at 1:00 pm. Parents are permitted to attend and will be directed to a viewing area on arrival. Parents can enter the yard by the daycare gate after 12:50 pm and must remain in the viewing area and wear a mask at all times.

Class parties:
The Cash Online donation In previous years, parents sent in treats for the children to share with each other during the afternoon movie parties. We can not permit that this year. Instead, we will be asking for a Cash online donation from parents to support will support the Halloween class parties this opportunity for the children. Staff will purchase individually wrapped treats a week before and will ensure the safe distribution of them to all students.
